Our pure Shea butter is used for body, hand and facial products because of its unsaponifiable content. Pure Shea butter contains ester resins recommended for damaged skin repair, cleansing and the sun’s protection. Phytosterols content helps cellular stimulation and regeneration.
Pure Shea butter contains latex, which prevents sun allergies. Clinical studies have demonstrated that pure shea butter enhances capillary vessels’ blood activity, increasing oxygenation and metabolic residue elimination. Shea nut products, the solid fat (butter or stearin) and the liquid oil (olien), are ideal for use as raw materials in cooking oil, margarine, cosmetics, soap, detergents and candles, but it has found its primary market niche as a substitute for cocoa butter in the chocolate and confectionery industry. Pure Shea butter has been used for centuries in Africa. It is used to moisturize and protect the skin from sun, wind, heat and salt water. It is known as the most effective skin moisturizer and conditioner because of its high content of non-saponifiable fats including vitamin F.
It is an excellent skin moistener and is used for aging skin, eczema and all forms of massage. It is also used to relax the muscles and to treat sprains wounds and colds. The unique formula of Pure Shea butter also helps prevent and protect dry skin, providing temporal relief from irritation, dryness and wind-burned skin. Pure Shea Butter can be used as a hairdressing cream to moisturize a dry scalp and stimulate hair growth. As a hair cream, it helps to hold the hairstyle and lightly relax curls.
Medicinally, Pure Shea Butter has been studied as an anti-inflammatory tropical cream, being helpful in cases of arthritis (Kerharo), and it contains stigmasterol, which is the sterol known as “the anti-stiffness factor” making it helpful in cases of rheumatism (Hampton). It has additionally been studied as a nasal decongestant by applying it to the inside of the nostrils (Tella). Pure Shea Butter is also helpful in cases of eczema and dermatitis and “contains chemical constituents that help to heal bruising and soreness” (Falconi).

Natural Cocoa Butter

Cocoa butter, also called theobroma oil, is a pale-yellow, edible vegetable fat extracted from the cocoa bean. Pellentesque mi metus, condimentum quis maximus eu.
Cocoa butter has a cocoa flavor and aroma. Cocoa butter contains a high proportion of saturated fats, derived from stearic and palmitic acids. Cocoa butter, unlike cocoa solids, has no more than trace amounts of caffeine and theobromine. Cocoa butter is obtained from whole cocoa beans, which are fermented, roasted, and then separated from their hulls. About 54–58% of the residue is cocoa butter. Chocolate liquor is pressed to separate the cocoa butter from the cocoa solids. The Broma process is used to extract cocoa butter from ground cacao beans.

These traditional handmade baskets come from Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region of Ghana. Traditionally, these baskets were mainly used for farming activities such as storage (e.g. tubers like yam), and colanders to separate grains like millet, rice, or wheat from waste. The baskets have not always had handles like we see today. With the growing patronage, their practicality, and their versatile characteristics, weavers have come up with the idea of making versions with handles to serve as market bags or shopping bags. This makes it easy and practical for carrying items in them. For about 10 years now, Bolga Baskets have become popular and appealing to foreigners and westerners. The skill, hard work, and patience that go into making these baskets are admirable and one can understand why people are falling in love with these treasures. If you thought the baskets have always come in different colours like you see today, I’m afraid that hasn’t been the case. They were normally made in natural nude colours, which is in fact the colour of the dried elephant grass. Over the course of several years, local artisan weavers have adapted to meet the taste of foreign buyers, who love them for their beauty, sturdiness, and versatility. The weavers have done so by adding a touch of colours to get more variety to suit the increasing demand from across the globe. These creations come in all shapes and sizes and are available in a vibrant array of colours and different patterns of weaving.
Our Baskets which are also known in Ghana and beyond as “Bolga Baskets” are handwoven by women groups and a few men using Elephant Grass. These baskets and their use have been part of the tradition of the people of Bolgatanga and the people of the Upper East Region of Ghana.
The baskets are lightweight and sometimes with strong, ergonomic leather handles. There are baskets made as shopping bags, laundry containers, planters, dog beds, baby cots and so much more
